Irene Van Horvath was born on November 23, 1918. Von Horvath was a long-time resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico where she was on the planning commision from 1955 to 1967. While in that capacity, she co-authored the Historic Styles Ordinance and was given the New Mexico Heritage Preservation Award in 1997. She died in Santa Fe on September 6, 2007. In her leisure she painted oils and watercolors.
